4 Hiking Trails Your Family Will Love

julie streeter

These days, it’s sometimes hard to get kids excited about being outside. However, if you live in the Boise metro area, these five trails are sure-fire ways to keep them interested and discover the beautiful world around them.

This area is comprised of more than 460 acres of land now set aside for the public to enjoy after the shutting down of military operations at the base. These trails offer many different options for kids to choose from and explore. With lots of fields of wildflowers in the spring/summer, and a creek flowing through the middle of the gulch, this is an area that kids will be begging you to take them back to. Dogs allowed.

If you've lived in the Treasure Valley for any length of time, you've heard about Table Rock. Hiking it is something of an initiation. Lucky enough for us, it's one of the most family-friendly hikes there is. No steep cliffs, no sketchy trails, and no crazy wild animals to look out for. Sounds great right? Well it get's even better when I tell you the view from the top is magnificent. Dogs allowed.

Pack a picnic and bring a ball to toss around, because this area has more to offer than just great hiking trails. With wide-open grass areas, giant playground equipment, tennis courts, and volleyball nets, your kids will never want to leave this place. Don't forget the fact that besides a flat-out awesome park, Camel's Back has a literal giant "camel's back" that kids love to climb up. Confused? Check it out for yourself. The Hull's Gulch Trails start at the top and make their way back behind Camel's Back leading through flowing streams and beautiful trees.

This hike is basically the Mona Lisa of all family-friendly hikes. With only a short ¼ mile of trail till you get to a magically hidden waterfall, it’s a destination guaranteed for your kids to love. Simple as that.

This trail is a little more tricky/out of the way to get to, but it all becomes worth it when you see the look of your kids faces once they stumble upon the waterfall.

Don't get lost. We have the directions HERE

Don't forget to have fun and always choose adventure!
